Let Nature Feed Your Senses is a partnership between the Sensory Trust and LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming)

‘Let Nature Feed Your Senses’ has been a Big Lottery funded project run in partnership between LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and Sensory Trust.  We are engaging people with nature, food and farming on a network of farms and nature reserves across England.

Across England there are over seventy five farmers and nature reserve managers hosting Let nature feed your senses visits. Every farm and nature reserve is unique and activity on each site will vary from week to week, season to season. The hosts are passionate about encouraging a love of nature through food and farming and want to share this with groups who have found accessing the outdoors a challenge. The hosts are keen to adapt their visits so that everyone gets a chance to participate.The project is working with people that currently cannot or do not access the countryside because of age, ability or social situation.

Let nature feed your senses specific beneficiary groups are as follows:

-   People who have a disability
-   People who live in an area of high social deprivation (10% most deprived Super Output Area, regionally)
-   People aged 65 or over
-   Schoolchildren who either have a disability, live in an area of high social deprivation or attend a school that has been unable to previously access farm visits

How we have been funded

‘Let Nature Feed Your Senses’ has been majority funded by ‘Access to Nature’, a £25 million Lottery-funded grants programme run by Natural England to encourage people from all backgrounds to understand, access and enjoy our natural environment.
‘Access to Nature’ aims to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors, particularly those who face social exclusion or those that currently have little or no contact with the natural environment. It will fund projects in urban, rural and coastal communities across England.

Big Lottery Fund

The Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of Lottery money to good causes, responsible for giving out half the money raised by the National Lottery for good causes: 14 pence of every pound spent on a Lottery Ticket.
Every year BIG gives out millions of pounds from the National Lottery to good causes. Our money goes to community groups and to projects that improve health, education and the environment. The Big Lottery Funds gives close to £2 million in lottery good cause money every 24 hours, which together with other Lottery distributors means that across the UK most people are within a few miles of a Lottery-funded project.
