Graham Appleton from the British Trust for Ornithology describes how birds’ beaks are incredible tools for helping them get their food in variety of ways. Looking at birds beaks or bills is a bit like being in a farmer’s tool shed; there are beaks that act like pliers, bills that can do the task of a spade and beaks that are hammers.
